Hosting and VPS guides for proxy users
These guides cover hosting for people who run proxy servers, scrapers and automation scripts. For that work, the server location, the billing terms and whether the host allows proxy traffic matter more than a long feature list. Two of the guides below are hands-on reviews of a single provider. The third compares larger VPS companies.
| Guide | Best for | Starting price |
|---|---|---|
| WishHost.net review | Budget shared hosting and VPS with servers in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK | Shared hosting from $1.20 per month |
| GetUno.xyz review | VPS, residential proxies, static hosting and an API in one account | VPS from $1 per week |
| VPS hosting guide | Comparing DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS Lightsail and Hetzner | Varies by provider |
What to check before you pay
- Server location. A VPS that runs a proxy or a scraper should sit close to the sites you target. WishHost lists data centers in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
- Billing terms. GetUno bills weekly and accepts crypto, so you can test a server for a few days. With any other host, read the refund and cancellation rules first.
- Proxy use. Read the acceptable use policy before you run a proxy server on a shared plan. A VPS usually gives you root access, which a shared hosting account does not.
- Bandwidth. Proxy traffic adds up quickly. Compare the monthly transfer limit, not only the price.
Need a ready-made proxy instead of a server? See the list of best proxy providers. To build your own, the guides on setting up a proxy server on a Raspberry Pi and configuring Docker proxy containers walk through it step by step.
